Clean Beauty Favorites
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I took a closer look at the products I was consuming. I thought I deserved a solid B+ for my level of consciousness of how my consumer choices affected my body, health, and the world, but I realized I had never really considered my beauty care choices. I was not giving the same thought to the serum I used every single morning as I was to the hand soap I bought. After months of research and trying various products, I have developed a continuously growing favorites list. When I want to check ingredients on a product I am unsure about, I compare the ingredients with the Never List from Beautycounter’s website. Here are my go-to brands and products:
Resurfacing Peel: This changed my post-treatment skin from zombie to glowing. I use this every other night.
Vitamin C Serum: My favorite C serum I have tried. I use these every morning before I do my makeup. Instant dewy glow!
Charcoal Face Mask: I use this once or twice a week, and if I have a pimple I will spot treat with the mask.
Cococream Cleanser: This replaced CeraVe in my cabinet. It provides the same gentle wash for sensitive skin without the toxic ingredients.
Native: I started using natural deodorant after my doctors informed me our armpits quickly absorb any products put on them, and send the product throughout our bodies. I was told to ditch anything with aluminum, and I truly wish I had been told this before a serious diagnosis. My favorite deodorant scent is coconut vanilla. I also love Native’s soaps and bodywash.
ThriveCausemetics: not only are you purchasing clean beauty, but your dollar goes to helping a woman in need thrive. They support women who are homeless, have cancer, are suffering from domestic abuse, adjusting to life after the military, and more. My favorite product is the Brilliant Eye Brightener Duo in Mauve and Champagne.
